If it were that easy to hide from the police in real life, our world would probably be a different place: In Red Dead Redemption 2 or Red Dead Online, it is apparently enough to simply stand behind the open door through which the law enforcement officer enters the room. At least that is what a Reddit user shows in his really amusing gameplay video. It may all be due to a glitch, but the result is of course the same.
Red Dead Redemption 2: How to hide from the stupid police
This is what it’s about: If you rob or shoot people in Red Dead Redemption 2 and let the witnesses escape, a bounty will be placed on your head. This means that sooner or later the police will show up and you may even have to deal with bounty hunters at some point – depending on how high the bounty is.

Red Dead Online There are other players too, and that’s probably why the bounty system is a bit more lenient there. Here it costs you a lot less if you shoot innocent passers-by (completely by accident, of course!). In this case, the player has a bounty of just 30 cents on his head.
Maybe it’s becausethat the policeman is not particularly trying to find him. Or he has other problems, he certainly doesn’t seem to be the smartest. In any case, he can’t find the player, even though he is simply hiding behind the door through which the law enforcement officer enters the room. This then leads to the corresponding comment:
“I can’t believe this worked!”

What’s happening here, is this a glitch? Possibly, at least that’s what it looks like. Traditionally, NPCs in games like RDR2 often have problems with doors or walls and glitch through them. But actually, for the most part, everything seems to be working properly here. The policeman really does seem to simply overlook the character.
It may also have something to do with the fact that the door is opened here. The author of the post writes that he didn’t actually press a button. So it seems that the animation is simply triggered when the door nearby opens or closes.
Where on earth is that? Surprisingly, not in Saint Denis. Even though the policeman looks a lot like one, we are dealing with a room in Blackwater. More precisely, the first floor of the Blackwater saloon. At least that’s what the creator of this Reddit post reports in the comments. Incidentally, they mainly revolve around the appearance of the character, which you can customize a lot more in Red Dead Online than in story mode.
Why do you think the police officer doesn’t spot the player? Has something like this ever happened to you in Red Dead Redemption 2 or do you perhaps even use this trick regularly?
